About the event

Create a stained glass window from beginning to end in this 2 day introductory workshop. We will flow through the steps of the copper foil method of stained glass, from pattern and glass selection to, glass cutting tools and skills and finally to soldering and framing. Copper Foil Stained Glass lends itself to flowing lines and curves in stained glass.

Patterns, glass and all tools will be provided for use during class time. This is a beginner level course.

We will use tin/lead solder so please do not register if pregnant or breastfeeding. We will take all safety precautions and  provide training.

Instructor Dayna Sabatino

Dayna  studied stained glass in the Bay Area of California initially at The  Stained Glass Garden in Berkeley, where she worked under many talented  and established glass artists at the top of their field. Dayna spent 10  years in Oakland and Berkeley eventually teaching courses in glass art,  building commissioned works and performing  restoration work, from small lampshades to large  church windows. Dayna was the studio manager at The  Institute of Mosaic Art in Oakland, that was then owned and directed by  globally known mosaic artist, Laurel True.

After  returning to the East Coast (glass tools in tow), Dayna landed in  Vermont, married and became a mother. Currently, her family is living on  their land in their handmade, off grid home. Dayna has taught stained  glass and mosaic technique at art centers throughout New England,  including The White River Craft Center in Randolph, VT., Artascope  Studios in Yarmouth, ME., ArtisTree Community Arts Center in South  Pomfret, VT. and RiverArts in Morrisville, VT. Dayna has collaborated with  The Arts Bus.

In 2022, Dayna opened Day Breaks Glass Studio in Bethel, VT, a studio, gallery and supply shop.

Day Breaks Glass Studio is a member of The Vermont Crafts Council, The Stained Glass Association of America and has received grants from The Vermont Arts Council.
